Song Lyric Poetry

Song: Saturn By Sleeping at Last

I played some music and the lines that stood out I wrote down and tried to make a poem out of it... it has almost no flow and doesn't really make sense...

we were victims of the night
we were bound to get together
you do everything I wish I did
I see in flames we belong together
I get a rush when I'm with you
I know I should tell you how I feel
I just want to be with you
I hope you feel the way I do
I've got a crush on you

my heart is filled with you
I just cant get enough
you're stuck on me and my laughing eyes
I think I felt my heart skip a beat
that crooked smile of yours knocks me off my feet
for all the things my hands have held, the best by far is you
I walk the maze of moments
the moon upon the ocean is swept around in motion
you cant fight the motion, its kinetic
you cant stop the moment its electric
you know I'm a fool for you
you've got me wrapped around your finger
exaggerate and you and I
you can hear it in the scilence
you can feel it on the way home
you can see it with the lights out
for once you let go of your fears and your ghosts
you understand now why they lost their minds and fought their wars
you're in love

we slowed it down
I was late but I arrived
where we want to be now is where we thought we would be safe and sound, back on the ground
I realize this is my last chance
there's nothing I want more except to be alone
we've got nowhere to run, they've all got loaded guns
I'm sorry but I would rather be getting high than watch my family die

time moved too fast
blue light reflects the chain on his neck
I locked myself in a hotel room and waited for the walls to move
I gave you something you can never give back
was it just a game to you?
the silence surrounds me, flashing memories of you
if I could I would wrap you up in a box just to be near you
you've seen your face like a heart attack
I look up to the heavens but the night is clouded over
it could be a reflection
the things I learned from a broken mirror, how a face can change when a heart knows fear
I cant forget it
I love you. don't you mind?

I think the air is finally safe to breathe again, to breathe again
roll olut your maps and papers and find out your hiding places again
I made some friends and I lost some too
if I could fly then I would know what life looks like from up above and down below
don't you dare look back

  1. This is such a cool idea! I like how you pulled from such a variety of genres.
